Smoke and Fire Satay Sauce

What you’ll need:

For Satay Sauce:

  • ½ cup Smoke & Fire peanut butter

  • ¼ cup soy sauce or tamari (for gf)

  • ⅛ c Sesame oil

  • 1 minced clove of garlic

  • 1 finely chopped shallot

  • ½ cup Hot water

For Vegetable Skewers:

  • 1 block of firm tofu 

  • Courgette 

  • Capsicum 

  • Red onion

  • Wooden skewers



For Satay Sauce:

  1. In a bowl, add Smoke & Fire peanut butter, soy sauce/tamari, sesame oil, shallot and garlic. Mix until well combined. 

  2. Slowly add hot water to the peanut butter mixture and stir well.

For Vegetable Skewers:

  1. Press liquid from tofu and cut into large cubes. 

  2. Place tofu in a bowl and cover with satay sauce. Let sit for at least 30 minutes to marinate. 

  3. Cut vegetables into large, evenly sized chunks 

  4. Place on skewers, alternating between different types of vegetable and marinated tofu. 

  5. Cook on BBQ or hot pan until vegetables are soft and tofu is crispy. Add extra satay sauce as you are cooking to add extra satay flavour.

Serve with toasted sourdough, stirred through pasta or mix through roasted vegetables! This recipe will make around 10 - 12 skewers.
